How to Prevent Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome

Twin-twin transfusion syndrome is a severe complication of twin pregnancy with a high perinatal mortality rate. The mortality rate without treatment is approximately 70% to 100%. Currently, laser coagulation of placental vascular communications (TTTs) has become the preferred method in many international fetal medicine centers, raising the survival rate of at least one fetus to 75% to 80%. Additionally, extending the pregnancy also plays a certain role in preventing twin-twin transfusion syndrome. Therefore, it is recommended that you try to extend your pregnancy to reduce the risk.
