Is It Good or Bad for Babies to Salivate a Lot?

Babies do not salivate during the neonatal period because their salivary glands are underdeveloped and secrete little saliva. As they grow older and solid foods are introduced, salivation increases, which is a normal physiological phenomenon. However, if a baby’s excessive salivation is accompanied by discomfort or affects eating, it may indicate oral or other health issues and should be treated promptly.
