Newborn Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy

Newborn hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy is a common neurological disorder during the neonatal period, caused by brain damage due to oxygen and blood supply deprivation before, during, or shortly after birth. Symptoms include coma and seizures, and CT scans often show brain edema. Treatment includes oxygen therapy, temperature control, and neuroprotective medications, but severe cases may leave sequelae such as cerebral palsy and intellectual disability.
