When a child has a fever, apply a cool, damp towel to the forehead or use ice wrapped in a dry towel to cool the head, neck, armpits, and groin. Simultaneously, use alcohol to wipe the body to lower the temperature. If there are signs of cold limbs or goosebumps, switch to wiping the limbs with lukewarm water until they warm up. For children with a history of high fever and convulsions, add calming medication. If transportation is difficult, perform emergency treatment at home first before deciding whether to go to the hospital.
