What to Do If a Baby Vomits After Breastfeeding?

If a baby vomits after breastfeeding, it might be caused by acute gastroenteritis. It’s recommended to temporarily fasting for 4-6 hours and not give the child any medication to allow the stomach to rest and recover. If the child is thirsty, they can drink a small amount of ginger-sugar water to gently relieve nausea. If they don’t vomit when drinking water, they can take small sips multiple times but avoid drinking too much at once to prevent gastrointestinal irritation. After the child stops vomiting, gradually increase the amount of food until normalcy is restored. At this point, medication treatment can also be started.
