How to Treat Encephalitis

Encephalitis caused by a virus. Commonly occurs in children. Symptoms include chills, fever, headache, vomiting, altered consciousness, and seizures. It may also lead to cranial nerve palsy, paralysis of limbs, and psychiatric symptoms such as hallucinations, hearing voices, speech disorders, excitement, agitation, and depression. Physical signs may include meningeal irritation signs and pathological reflexes of the corticospinal tract. Cerebrospinal fluid examination shows increased pressure. The appearance is colorless and transparent. Protein levels are slightly elevated. Sugar and chloride levels are normal. Treatment primarily involves symptomatic and supportive therapy. Preventive measures include comprehensive strategies such as interrupting transmission routes, eradicating vectors, and vaccination.
