The foramen ovale in newborns typically closes within 5-7 months after birth. However, if it remains open beyond 7 months, it is referred to as ‘patent foramen ovale,’ a type of congenital heart disease. It is generally recommended to start introducing solid foods around the baby’s 4th month. Introducing them too early or too late may affect the baby’s digestion and nutrient absorption.
