How to Handle Nasal Bleeding Emergencies

When a child has a nosebleed, they should immediately lower their head and have someone press on both sides of the child’s nostrils with their thumb and index finger, pressing towards the nasal septum. Typically, just pressing for 5 to 10 minutes will stop most children’s nosebleeds. While pressing on the nostrils, place two cold towels on the child’s forehead to help constrict blood vessels and stop the bleeding. Additionally, reassure the child to avoid emotional tension, which may affect stop bleeding.
