Can a Child Take Cephalosporin Antibiotics?

Can a child take cephalosporin antibiotics? I’ve been giving my child paracetamol, cephalexin, and children’s cough syrup, but I’m not planning to give him the cough syrup because it hasn’t worked. The child was doing well before taking the medicine, but after traveling from Shanxi to Shaanxi to visit his grandfather, he suddenly felt unwell with not acclimatized. He started having diarrhea upon arrival in Xi’an and was prescribed Qingda and Montmorillonite powder by the hospital. He stayed for 4 days, getting stronger each day, and on the fifth day, when he was to return home, he had a fever with a cold. He was given fever-reducing medicine and children’s paracetamol. The fever subsided, but the cold didn’t improve; he had clear nasal discharge and started coughing again. Last night around 4 AM, it seemed like he caught a cold and has been coughing since then, crying and coughing. However, now that he’s awake and has a hot water bottle on his back, he’s not coughing as much. There is no history of allergic heredity. What medicine should I give him now?
