Question

My 3-year-old child has undergone pediatric urethral rupture surgery. I would like to know, how long after the surgery can the child stop wearing open briefs, and what should be noted during this period?

Answer

Pediatric urethral rupture is a common congenital anomaly of the male lower urinary tract and external genitalia. The urethral opening is from the proximal part of the normal urethral opening to the perineum on the ventral side of the penis. Most cases are accompanied by incomplete penile development. It is one of the most common congenital anomalies in the pediatric urogenital system. Urethral rupture can be a single defect or a more complex issue, such as a phenotypic manifestation of intersexuality. Children with this condition have no medication treatment and can only be repaired through surgery. After surgery, if there is no infection, the child can wear closed briefs after half a month.
