Question

My child is an 8-year-old boy. Initially, he felt pain when drinking water and noticed his voice was a bit hoarse. Additionally, he now has a persistent high fever. How should we treat the painful sore throat in a child with tonsillitis?

Answer

In terms of treatment, it is generally recommended to follow the doctor’s instructions and give the child some symptomatic anti-inflammatory medication. Regional rinsing or spraying may also be considered, and symptomatic medications can be injected into the tonsils, which are all effective. If the symptoms are primarily sore throat, painkillers can be administered. If the child continues to have a fever, oral antipyretics can be given. Tonsillitis is characterized by recurrent episodes; if similar situations occur, surgery may be considered after the inflammation is controlled. During this period, make sure the child gets plenty of rest and eats more vegetables and fruits.
