Question
What clinical symptoms may appear in a child with tonsillitis?
Answer
The tonsils are located at the back of the throat, so when a child develops acute tonsillitis, one of the most apparent symptoms is a sore throat, along with difficulty swallowing. The child may also experience fever, which could be a low-grade fever or even a high fever of 39-40 degrees Celsius. During a fever, many children also report headaches or body aches, as well as chills. The child’s tonsils can be visibly red and swollen due to congestion. They may also suffer from complications such as sepsis, arthritis, and skin disorders. It is advisable to observe the child’s condition and seek medical diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible if the symptoms are severe.
