Question

My son is 4 years old. Initially, he had a slight sore throat, and I noticed that his coughing seemed more severe. Additionally, he’s been a bit feverish. What clinical symptoms might appear if he has tonsillitis?

Answer

Most children with tonsillitis will experience a sore throat, with the pain intensifying during swallowing. This is usually accompanied by a fever, either persistent low-grade fever or high-grade fever reaching 40 degrees Celsius. Children may also feel fatigue, headaches, and overall body pain, as well as chills. The tonsils may appear red and swollen and may be enlarged. There may also be serious complications such as nephritis and sepsis, so it is recommended to seek medical diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible.
