Question
Can neonatal hypospadias be cured?
Answer
Surgical treatment is the only method for treating neonatal hypospadias. The purpose of the surgery is to correct the downward curvature of the penis and, as much as possible, bring the urethral opening closer to its normal position, allowing the child to urinate standing up and retaining reproductive capability in adulthood. The surgery should be completed before the age of school entry.
