Question

Can a child become brain damaged from a persistent fever?

Answer

A child’s high fever is usually caused by a cold, with symptoms including coughing, phlegm, and fever. If the measured body temperature exceeds 37 degrees Celsius, it is considered a fever. Treatment can include pediatric paracetamol and phenylephrine granules, along with plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. In some cases, intravenous treatment may be necessary.
