Question

What should be done if a three-year-old baby gets scabies?

Answer

Scabies is a common superficial suppurative skin disease, named for the yellow fluid that seeps out when the blisters burst, also known as impetigo or pustular dermatitis. The disease is contagious by contact. For those with intact blisters, apply 1% camphor and 10% sulfur potassium alum wash topically several times a day. For those with broken blisters forming ulcerated surfaces or scabs, first apply O.1% rifampin solution wet compresses, then apply O.5% neomycin ointment or Bactroban ointment, Ciprofloxacin ointment, and other similar ointments topically.
