Question
Is an eight-month-old baby’s disorganized stool a sign of diarrhea?
Answer
Disorganized stool is a typical symptom of enteritis. Symptoms of chronic enteritis may also include intestinal rumbling, diarrhea, purulent and bloody stools, abdominal pain, constipation, foamy stools, and more. If the disorganized stool persists for more than a week and is chronic, it may indicate an organic disease. Additionally, disorganized stool may be related to medication, emotional tension, food intolerance, abnormal colonic motility, small intestinal dysfunction, and esophageal or gallbladder motility disorders. Disorganized stool is not synonymous with diarrhea; patients must pay attention to this and seek timely medical examination and treatment at a regular specialized hospital if symptoms are detected.
