Question
When should the disinfection of a baby’s umbilical cord be continued?
Answer
The baby’s umbilical cord should be disinfected at least once a day until it naturally falls off. When disinfecting, start from the inside of the umbilical cord and wipe outwards in a spiral motion, do not wipe in reverse or back and forth, to reduce the risk of infection. Do not wash the umbilical cord with water before it falls off.
