Question

Why do children keep hiccuping?

Answer

Hiccuping is often triggered by overeating. There are various reasons for hiccuping, including issues with the stomach, esophagus, or organic changes. It can also be caused by external substances, biochemicals, or physical stimuli. For example: an excess of air entering the stomach and escaping through the mouth, factors related to the autonomic nervous system (such as vagus nerve excitement or pyloric spasm), poor eating habits (such as eating or drinking too quickly), or excessive swallowing (such as when saliva is too much or too little). When gastrointestinal neuroses or chronic gastrointestinal diseases lead to weakened gastric motility, the incidence rate is frequent, and it’s difficult to improve during treatment.
