Question
Does Hirschsprung’s Disease Cause Flatulence?
Answer
Clinical manifestations include intermittent or progressive abdominal bloating and difficulty in defecation, which may lead to symptoms of incomplete bowel obstruction in severe cases. Long-term inability to eat normally can result in electrolyte imbalances. When combined with enteritis, it can lead to regional and systemic infection and toxicity symptoms, even presenting with a dangerous condition of Hirschsprung’s disease. Delayed treatment may cause intestinal perforation, peritonitis, sepsis due to severe abdominal bloating, rapid deterioration of the condition, and ultimately death.
