Question

What should I eat to treat jaundice during pregnancy?

Answer

Your condition may be physiological jaundice. Mild cases usually present with a light yellow color confined to the face and neck, or may involve the trunk, with the conjunctiva also becoming yellowish, and it usually resolves after 2 to 3 days, with the skin color returning to normal by the 5th to 6th day. Severe cases of jaundice can also spread from head to toe, and the yellowing can last for more than a week, especially in some premature infants who may continue for up to 4 weeks. Their stools remain yellow, and there is no bilirubin in the urine. Blue light therapy is recommended and has been found to be effective.
