Question

A 6-month-old baby is still running a fever but has already developed a rash. What should I do?

Answer

Childhood exanthema is a self-limiting disease, also known as infantile roseola. It is an acute infectious disease in infants and young children caused by human herpesvirus 6. It can occur throughout the year, with winter and spring being peak seasons. Besides childhood exanthema, other common rash diseases in children include measles, scarlet fever, rubella, chickenpox, and others. After recovery from childhood exanthema, children can develop a relatively strong immunity, making recurrence quite rare.
