Question
How to treat pediatric elbow dislocation?
Answer
Manual reduction is the primary method for treating pediatric elbow dislocation and does not require anesthesia. First, rotate the forearm backward, extend the elbow joint, and slightly pull it. Then, press the thumb on the position of the olecranon of the ulna in front of the elbow, and flex the elbow joint. If necessary, rotate the forearm forward and backward; usually, you can hear a pop indicating reduction. After reduction, the elbow and forearm can move freely.
