Question

Experiencing a central blind spot, distorted vision, and decreased vision? There’s a black spot at the bottom of your eye. What could it be? Is it serious?

Answer

Disease Analysis: Normally, when looking at a white object or the blue sky, one may notice floating spots or thin threads in front of their eyes, which can even be seen with the eyes closed. However, upon objective examination, no abnormalities in the vitreous body are found. This phenomenon is known as physiological floaters. Guidance: It is generally believed that this is caused by cells in the vitreous cortex or blood cells moving within the retinal blood vessels casting shadows on the retina. No treatment is needed.
