Question
13 weeks along, can I do a Down syndrome test?
Answer
The appropriate time for a Down syndrome screening is between 14 to 19 weeks of pregnancy. This test helps to assess the risk of the fetus having Down syndrome. Additionally, pregnant women should also undergo a 4D ultrasound between 22 to 26 weeks for prenatal deformity screening. If necessary, amniocentesis and cord blood analysis can be performed between 16 to 20 weeks to further confirm the fetus’s development in the womb.
