Question
My baby has malformed ear cartilage, with the upper part of the right ear’s antihelix not extending as much as the left, resulting in the right ear appearing smaller. Should I consult a pediatrician or an otolaryngologist? What methods will the doctor use for treatment? Will the treatment be painful? The hearing is normal. Will it improve on its own if not treated?
Answer
Malformed ear cartilage is not directly related to hearing issues. Ear reconstruction surgery can improve the ear cartilage dysplasia, but it will not help with hearing loss. Since I cannot conduct a face-to-face examination, it is recommended to undergo a comprehensive examination and treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
