Question

We have a Down syndrome baby, and we would like to understand the causes of this condition, as well as the checks we both need to undergo to prevent any future issues with our baby.

Answer

During the third or fourth month of pregnancy, a chromosome test can be conducted to determine if there is a chromosomal abnormality in one or both parents. Additionally, a history of exposure to radioactive substances may also need to be checked. If any related abnormalities are found, appropriate monitoring and treatment during pregnancy can be considered.
