Question

I had an abdominal ultrasound done on my fetus at 12 weeks and 6 days, and the fetal NT value is approximately 0.25CM. I would like to know what the normal value is and what risks are associated with a high value?

Answer

The fetal neck translucency (NT) refers to the thickness of fluid accumulation in the subcutaneous tissue at the back of the fetus’s neck. During the 11-14th week of pregnancy, the normal NT value should be less than 2.5mm. If the measured NT value is greater than or equal to 2.5mm, it may indicate an increased risk of fetal abnormalities. An elevated NT value may be associated with chromosomal abnormalities, heart defects, or other malformations. It is recommended to consult a professional doctor for further evaluation and diagnosis.
