Question
A three-and-a-half-year-old boy had a CTU scan in October 2008 due to a ureteral cyst. There were eight large plates, each with twenty or so small images. In November 2008, he had an IVP examination with six large plates. I’ve heard that children are not good at being exposed to radiation, but I’m not sure if these two examinations we had will affect the child’s growth and development or cause other diseases. Please provide an answer amidst your busy schedule, thank you!
Answer
If the damage from radiation were that severe, it’s unlikely that children would undergo such examinations. Generally, following medical instructions and performing necessary examinations when required usually does not result in adverse reactions. The situation you described is unlikely to produce any adverse effects.
