Question

How to Treat Pediatric Hearing Impairment?

Answer

Hello, a simple hearing screen cannot fully assess the level of hearing. Therefore, infants and young children who do not pass the initial hearing screen should receive a hearing and medical evaluation by 3 months of age, including auditory brainstem response, otoacoustic emissions, and auditory steady-state response tests to assess the level of hearing. Sometimes, an ear CT scan is also required to understand the development of the middle and inner ear. Based on the evaluation results, intervention measures should be implemented within 6 months.
