Question
The baby is 6 months and 3 weeks old and has been suffering from diarrhea for 4 or 5 days, with 4 or 5 bowel movements a day, slightly loose and yellow stools. Two days ago, the baby’s stool was examined at a hospital, showing a few white blood cells. The doctor diagnosed a mild inflammation and prescribed Golden Bifidus. The baby took Golden Bifidus for two days but seems to have not improved. Since this morning, the baby hasn’t been eating much milk, only half of the usual amount. This morning there was one bowel movement, slightly loose and yellow, and by noon it was more watery with less quantity, and there were some brown stringy substances. The parent then went to another large hospital where the doctor inquired about the situation and prescribed two other medications: Shifu Su (cefixime granules) and Ji Fu Shi (aluminum phosphate gel).
Answer
My child is also 6 months old, and at first, he had more than 10 bowel movements a day. I kept giving him Golden Bifidus, and now he’s better.
