Question

Can pediatric meningitis be cured?

Answer

Early cases should generally be hospitalized for treatment, providing a diet rich in nutrition, and feeding through the nose for those who are unconscious. Anti-tuberculosis therapy should select drugs with strong penetration, and observe for toxic and adverse reactions during the course. Symptomatic treatment includes lowering intracranial pressure, controlling high fever and seizures, supplementing fluids and nutrition, etc. In severe cases, intrathecal injection of dexamethasone or isoniazid may be considered.
