Question

After the child turned three months old, I would give them a windmill to look at when they were crying. At six months, I discovered that they had strabismus. Can children’s strabismus be cured?

Answer

Children should undergo surgery at an early age to preserve good binocular vision, fusion, and stereoscopic function. Non-comitant strabismus should first seek the underlying cause. Non-surgical treatments: Not all strabismus requires surgery. If it is accommodative esotropia, wearing appropriate myopia glasses or bifocal lenses can correct it. If there are moderate to high refractive anomalies, glasses are often also needed for correction. Additionally, methods such as axis correction training can help restore binocular vision and increase stereoscopic ability. For example, using an axis correction training machine or wearing prismatic lens… etc. If there is amblyopia, the training of amblyopia is also an indispensable treatment.
