Question
How should pediatric ovarian tumors be treated?
Answer
Malignant ovarian tumors in children, such as malignant teratomas and dysgerminomas, have a better prognosis if they are detected early and removed before regional or distant metastasis occurs, along with radiation and chemotherapy. Embryonal carcinoma has the worst prognosis. Vitamin C and E are another type of anti-tumor substance that can prevent the harmful effects of carcinogens in food such as nitrosamines. Vitamin C can protect sperm from genetic damage and reduce the risk of leukemia, kidney cancer, and brain tumors in offspring.
