Question

Could a child’s morning cough potentially develop into allergic asthma?

Answer

If a child has a persistent cough without fever, it should be first considered as allergic cough, also known as variable asthma. At this point, treatment should be administered according to asthma protocols, as other methods may be ineffective. Primary preventive measures include avoiding allergens, taking ketotifen orally, and for severe cases, using budesonide inhalation. If asthma symptoms are present, bronchodilators can be added. Antibiotics are generally not used, except when there is a concurrent bacterial infection, in which case effective antibiotics should be administered.
