Question
“Can congenital epilepsy in premature infants be cured, and what is the best age for treatment?”
Answer
“Treating congenital epilepsy is quite challenging. Current treatment options include antiepileptic medication treatment, which can control seizures in about 70% of patients. Approximately 50% to 60% of these patients may recover and lead a normal life capable of working and living like others after two to five years of treatment. Additionally, surgical and neurostimulation treatments can control or cure the seizures in some patients with drug-resistant epilepsy, thereby improving the prognosis for patients with refractory epilepsy to some extent.”
