Question

Some patients experience an average of 4 to 5 seizures per month, will they progress to grand mal seizures?

Answer

Epilepsy is a common neurological and psychiatric disorder with complex causes. Clinical manifestations can be divided into five types: generalized tonic-clonic seizures, also known as grand mal seizures; simple partial seizures; complex partial seizures; absence seizures, also known as petit mal seizures; and epilepsy in a continuous state. There is no direct connection between petit mal and grand mal seizures. Having 4 to 5 seizures per month is already quite frequent. It is recommended to seek professional treatment from a neurologist or psychiatrist.
