Question

My child was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the hospital and has been receiving treatment there for a while, but there doesn’t seem to be much change.

Answer

Pediatric cerebral palsy is typically clinically manifested as motor impairment, language impairment, hearing impairment, or developmental delays in intelligence. Early treatment for cerebral palsy focuses on rehabilitation therapy. If the child is over three years old and has spastic cerebral palsy with high muscle tone, surgery can be considered to alleviate the symptoms. However, if the child has spastic cerebral palsy, ataxic cerebral palsy, or dyskinetic cerebral palsy, surgery is not currently recommended as a treatment option; instead, rehabilitation exercises are the main approach. Traditional Chinese medicine can be used as an auxiliary treatment.
