Question
What is the normal fasting blood sugar level? And what about the blood sugar level two hours after eating? Even though my blood sugar test results through the finger needle are normal, my doctor still asks me to continue testing. Is this necessary? I have to test my blood sugar four times a day, and it’s really painful. My fingers are swelling up, can I stop measuring?
Answer
The normal fasting blood sugar level should generally not exceed 6, and the two-hour post-meal blood sugar level should be maintained around 7. There is no absolute rule, as long as the blood sugar level does not exceed 8, there is usually no major issue. It is important to control your diet, avoiding high-sugar or overly greasy, high-fat foods. Your diet should be light and healthy, drink plenty of water, and consume fresh fruits and vegetables to promote metabolism.
