Question
Occasionally, my ears run (earwax falls out and it feels like water is running out), and there’s a lot of earwax; sometimes my ears hurt, and sometimes when I tilt my head, I feel something moving in my ear. Note: Since childhood, my nose often feels blocked when it’s cold, and this has improved in the past year since I started exercising regularly.
Answer
Chronic suppurative otitis media is a complication of untreated acute suppurative otitis media and can lead to hearing loss and serious complications. The causes may include incomplete resolution of acute suppurative otitis media, deep infections reaching the bone membrane and bone, and dysfunction of the eustachian tube. Treatment includes eliminating the cause, controlling the infection, draining the fluid, removing the lesion, and preventing and treating complications. Treatment methods include both etiological treatment and regional treatment, including drug therapy and surgical treatment. For simple chronic otitis media, regional drug therapy is usually the main approach, such as ear drops. After the condition stabilizes, tympanoplasty or myringoplasty may be considered.
