Question

Is frequent urination in a 5-month-old baby related to renal cystadenoma? My baby is five months old, and there are blood clots in the stool. Hospital examination revealed a right renal upper pole cystadenoma. Recently, the baby has been urinating frequently. Is this related to the disease?

Answer

The treatment and evaluation of renal cystadenoma are divided into three levels: cure, improvement, and ineffective. Cure refers to the complete disappearance of cyst symptoms and signs; improvement means that the cyst has shrunk by more than two-thirds but still has some symptoms and signs; ineffective is when the size, symptoms, and signs of the cyst remain unchanged or worsen compared to before surgery. Pure renal cystadenoma is characterized by simple formation, non-inherited congenital, usually increases with age, more common in adults, and does not cause kidney function decline. Cysts may cause symptoms such as back pain, hematuria, abdominal mass, proteinuria, hypertension, and kidney function decline.
