Question
I’ve recently noticed white spots appearing on the area of a mole. Could this be vitiligo?
Answer
Vitiligo is a skin disorder characterized by pigment loss, initially manifesting as patchy areas of skin that appear white without any conscious symptoms. These patches tend to expand over time and can be pale or milky white in color, with smooth surfaces and no dandruff. It is advisable to seek treatment from a legitimate professional facility and avoid self-treatment to prevent the worsening of the condition. In terms of diet, it is recommended to avoid foods rich in vitamin C, as well as spicy and overly acidic foods. Carbonated drinks should also be avoided. It’s beneficial to consume more lean meats, animal organs, and dairy products. Foods rich in copper, such as mushrooms, shrimp, and black tea, can also be helpful in treating vitiligo. Wishing for a speedy recovery!
