Question

Patient Gender: Patient Age: Description of Problem: What is Hutigto Dance Disease?

Answer

This condition is a fully compliant autosomal dominant genetic disorder. It rarely occurs before the age of 20, with the incidence rate gradually increasing after 20. When it does manifest, it initially presents with mood swings, followed by choreiform movements, recurrent seizures, and a continuous decline in strength and intelligence, leading to progressive dementia. Patients often die within 4 to 20 years after the onset of symptoms. The disease has a clear family history of inheritance; if either parent is a patient, there is at least a 1/2 chance of the offspring being affected.
