The symptoms of neonatal jaundice mainly manifest as yellowing of the face and body. In severe cases, the palms of the hands and soles of the feet may also appear yellow. If a child’s jaundice is severe enough to develop kernicterus, it may be accompanied by neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, irritability, or loss of appetite. In such cases, the condition may be more serious and have a possibility of residual effects.
