Question
When my baby was five months old, I noticed her left ribcage had an outward bulge during her bath (more pronounced when lying flat or when touched). During the medical consultation, the doctor only examined the ribs and the back of the head, diagnosing it as rickets and prescribing ‘Kaisili D Calcium Tablets’ and ‘Alpha Calcitriol Soft Capsules’ for treatment. The doctor also mentioned that after taking these medications, there would be no need to supplement cod liver oil and zinc (the baby was previously on zinc supplementation due to a deficiency). Is this diagnosis correct? Do I really not need to supplement cod liver oil and zinc after taking these medications?
