Question

What are the manifestations of infantile convulsions?

Answer

Infantile convulsions are a refractory epilepsy brain disease, with manifestations including seizures that resemble convulsions. The most effective treatment currently involves the use of corticosteroids and antiepileptic drugs. Among corticosteroids, ACTH therapy is the first choice, with an approximate efficacy of 70%, but there is a 1 in 3 chance of recurrence after discontinuation of medication. Antiepileptic drugs include sodium valproate and clonazepam, as well as newer medications such as gabapentin, levetiracetam, and lamotrigine, which are often considered for use.
