Question
My child often disobeys, and I often beat him. Is this kind of education good? What are the effects?
Answer
Children will inevitably go through a rebellious phase at a certain age, doing the opposite of what adults say. This is what we refer to as disobedience. When faced with such a child, one should be patient in persuasion. If persuasion doesn’t work after half an hour, it’s not a bad idea to put the matter aside and do something else to shift the child’s attention. After some time, try to guide and persuade the child again, which might yield better results. In summary, it is important to observe children carefully and guide them patiently. It is absolutely crucial not to engage in a stalemate. Otherwise, either the adults will eventually give in to the child, reinforcing their bad habit of always being dissatisfied and causing further mischief; or parents may lose their patience and resort to hitting the child, which can cause emotional harm to the child.
