Question

Why did a 2-year-old child have two dislocations of the arm?

Answer

A joint dislocation occurs when the joint surfaces of the bones lose their normal alignment, resulting in the loss of joint function. Symptoms include swelling at the affected area, external deformation of the joint, and severe pain. In severe cases, it may be accompanied by vascular or nerve damage. If you are not familiar with skeletal structures, do not attempt to reset (relocate) it yourself to avoid causing greater vascular or nerve damage. If relocation is not successful, immobilize the dislocated joint with a bandage and seek medical attention. Local cold compress can be used to alleviate pain.
