Question

How should neonatal anal stenosis be treated?

Answer

Parents can take their child to a children’s hospital for dilatation therapy. The basic requirements for dilatation therapy are to dilate the anus according to the tension of the anal sphincter. After surgery, it usually starts with inserting a finger-thick dilator, keeping it in place for about three minutes each time, and gradually increasing the diameter of the dilator. This helps promote gastrointestinal motility and avoid issues of anal stenosis after surgery.
