Question

My child is two months old and has a slightly warm head but does not have a fever. She is also more prone to being startled. Since she was one month old, she often sleeps on her side, but her head is always tilted back, forming a 90-degree angle with her body. Her head feels warm, but she doesn’t have a fever. What could be the cause? Thank you.

Answer

Infants naturally have higher body temperatures due to rapid metabolism during infancy. The body’s cells divide quickly, and as the body grows rapidly, more heat is produced. Particularly, the back of the infant’s head tends to be warmer. As long as the body temperature is normal, there should be no issues.
